INFORMATION
Four runners, one goal
The number four has a tradition in sport, especially in track and field athletics. In this respect it is only consistent if the popular relay competition of the MUNICH MARATHON follows this tradition from 2011 and for the first time on 09 October 2011 four runners instead of five will share the 42.195 kilometres. The sections are of varying length and the change zones are all – as in the past – conveniently situated with regard to public transport. Irrespective of whether you run the marathon as a company, a club or a private group, it is fun, improves co-operation and overcomes hierarchies. The relay marathon also takes place on the original route of the MUNICH MARATHON: it starts in the Olympic Park, then on into the English Garden, through the east of Munich, across the Gasteig in the direction of Marienplatz, past the Opera House, Residence and the Pinakothek art galleries, across the Odeonsplatz to the Siegestor, on across Leopoldstrasse and through the heart of Schwabing back to Olympic Park. Through the large marathon gateway into the Olympic Stadium for the finish.
