Half distance – whole experience

The premiere of the half marathon in 2010 was a complete success: right from the start the 21 km route of the MUNICH MARATHON became one of the biggest and most popular throughout Germany. Certainly also a reason for it: despite the half distance all the participants in the half marathon get the whole “Munich feeling” on a route which could not be better planned by a a tour guide: the starting signal falls in Bogenhausen. From here the route follows the route of the marathon through the east of Munich. Across Rosenheimer Strasse, past the Gasteig, the course continues across Marienplatz with the town hall, past the Opera House and the Residence, along the world famous Pinakothek art galleries, across Odeonsplatz to Siegestor, across Leopoldstrasse and through the heart of Schwabing to the Olympic Park. The climax – as with the marathon – is the finish through the large marathon gateway into the Olympic Stadium: pure goose bumps. Experience it!
